Quoting and project software for builders

Two options. BlitzBooks, our quoting and invoicing app, covers quotes, invoices and job cards at R200 a month. Where a building business has outgrown that, we build custom project tracking. We sell this last and least, deliberately.

What it does

What it does on a live project

Quotes that are not retyped

Built once, sent from a phone, and turned into an invoice without typing it a second time.

Invoices and what is owed

Outstanding invoices on one screen rather than tracked in your head.

Job cards

A record of what was done on each job, kept with the job rather than in a WhatsApp thread.

Custom tracking, only if it pays

Variations and project stages built bespoke where the volume justifies it. We will talk you out of it where it does not.

One uncharged variation on one project usually costs more than a year of the software. That is the sum to run before you commission anything.

How the paperwork runs

From the quote to what you are owed

  1. 01

    The quote

Built once, sent from a phone, and never retyped into an invoice afterwards.

  2. 02

    The invoice

Outstanding amounts on one screen rather than tracked in somebody's head.

  3. 03

    The job card

A record of what was done, kept with the job instead of in a WhatsApp thread.

  4. 04

    Only if it pays

Variations and project stages built bespoke where the volume justifies it, and not where it does not.

Two options, honestly

BlitzBooks at R200 a month covers most building businesses. Custom work only where the volume actually justifies it.

How to decide

Off-the-shelf or custom, and how to tell

Three questions settle it, and most building businesses land on the first answer.

  1. 01

Are quotes and invoices the problem?

If the pain is quoting slowly and invoicing late, BlitzBooks covers it at R200 a month and nothing needs building.

  2. 02

    Are variations going uncharged?

If changes agreed on site are not making it onto an invoice, that is a tracking problem, and it is the one that most justifies custom work.

  3. 03

How many projects run at once?

A business running a handful of projects a year needs a better gallery, not software. Several concurrent projects is the point where a spreadsheet starts losing things.

Ready to get quoting off the kitchen table?

Tell us how many quotes you send a month and how you invoice now, and we will tell you which of the two fits.

Honest about the fit

Our own app, and where it does not fit

BlitzBooks is our own quoting and invoicing app, live at blitzbooks.co.za and used daily by South African trades. It was not built specifically for building projects, and we will tell you where it fits and where it does not.

Your risk, removed

How to tell if you are too small for this

Free quote, no obligation

We go through your site, your gallery and your enquiry path and quote what it would take. Yours whether you build with us or not.

We will tell you what we have not done

We have not built for a building or renovation company yet, and you will hear that from us before you hear it anywhere else.

In your name from day one

Domain, hosting and inbox registered to you during the build. Leave whenever you like and nothing needs rebuilding.

Before you commission anything

Questions about software for a building business

Is BlitzBooks built for construction?

No. It is built for South African trades generally. It handles quotes, invoices and job cards well; it does not manage project stages or subcontractors, and we will not pretend otherwise.

What does custom project software cost?

It is quoted per project once the scope is clear, because tracking variations for one site manager and running stages across many projects are different sizes of job.

Who owns custom software you build?

The data is yours outright, in a database in your name. The code is ours by licence and yours to keep using, including if you stop working with us.

Are we too small for this?

Possibly, and we will say so. If you run a few projects a year, spend the money on the gallery instead.

Work out what the untracked variations are costing you

Tell us how homeowners find you now and what usually kills a quote. If your problem is capacity rather than enquiries, we will say so and stop there.
